Green Men
Green Men are stone carvings that decorate many of the medieval churches and cathedrals throughout Europe. Just what they represent is somewhat of a mystery, but no one can discount that they exist, and exist in great numbers. It is believed that the Green Man represents man's love and respect for nature. They represent the awakening or birth of spring and the celebration of autumn and death of winter. Green Men can be rather strange characters; they present a combination of human and leaf like characteristics. It is not unusual for them to have foliage coming out of their mouths.
